Collect one egg carton for each child in the class. At one of your tables, set out a tub of potting soil, a bowl of birdseed, spoons, and clean spray bottles filled with water. Have the kids fill their egg carton pouches with potting soil, sprinkle birdseed over the top, and squirt some water over it to finish. Next close the egg carton lid, and set these aside. After two weeks, open them up and see what has happened. Discuss the results in group time, and ask the kids why the plants grew without sunlight. You can later transfer these to a garden or larger pot.
