Collect a large pickle jar or other clear container, and cut a slit in the lid to make it into a coin drop box. Sit down with the kids in group, and tell them that the class is going to start a project to collect spare change. Encourage them to hunt for change around their house or get some from their parents each morning to drop into the box. Come up with a cause for your coin collecting, such as a charity to donate to or a special trip or ice cream party for the class. When done, count up the change, and apply it towards your selected cause. Use this activity to impress upon kids that consistent saving can add up.
