First, let children know in group prior to this activity what a cruise ship is. You might ask if any of them have ever been on a cruise ship. Go on-line and visit cruise ship web sites for some materials to print out. Make pretend brochures for the children to give out as the people enter the cruise ship. Add a clip board for one of the children to be a n activity coordinator, and play camera for pictures. Set up a couple of different cruise ship items, such as a pretend room, a pretend movie theater, and pretend dining area inside your Dramatic Play area. It does not need to be extra fancy, a table for the dining with a tablecloth and maybe some fake flowers, a couple of chairs and a piece of cardboard on the wall for a TV or the movie theater, and a mat and some other materials for the room. Let the children play away on their cruise!
