Go to your local department store and get one or two cheap stopwatches. Show your class how to work them. After that, send the kids off to time anything and everything. How long does it take to do a puzzle, run a lap around the playground, tie your shoes, eat lunch, or whatever other tasks they want to time. Provide a clipboard and writing utensil so they can record their results. Consider making a chart of the information later in group time.
